Phillip E. Cochran recently retired from his position as Department Chair of the Veterinary Technology Program at Portland Community College in Portland, Oregon and has returned to private practice in small animal medicine and surgery. He is a published author and has several veterinary appliances registered with the U.S. Patent office. Dr. Cochran is listed in the Who's Who in Veterinary Science and Medicine (1992) and Strathmore's' Who's Who in America, Centennial Edition (2000). He is also a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association, the Portland Veterinary Medical Association and the Oregon Veterinary Emergency Response Team (OVERT). He is on the Oregon Veterinary Medical Association's Leadership Council for Emergency and Disaster Planning and Relief. Dr. Cochran has non-veterinary related public service with the United States Civil Air Patrol, Oregon Wing, Washington County Composite Squadron, where he holds the rank of Major and has served as Deputy Squadron Commander. Phillip E. Cochran received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Zoology and his Master of Science Degree in Genetics, with a minor in Biochemistry, from Oregon State University and he received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) Degree from Colorado State University.

This book was required for the vet tech program I was in. It had a number of helpful pictures and diagrams. I would definitely recommend using more than one book for A&P, but this was is a good one to have on hand.

This is exactly the textbook required for the class my daughter is taking. Her school under ordered the books needed.

I bought this book in hopes of supplementing the poorly illustrated manual we are already using. The photographs of the dissections in this manual are small and poor in quality as well. The pictures are too dark and small to decipher anything. To try to use this maual to teach is not possible. There is no way a student could use these pictures for reference to either learn from or to study from. If you are looking for a lab manual where you want students to actually be able to SEE what they should be looking at, this is NOT it.

Color pictures could be brighter. They are hard to see without enlarging and going as bright as you can on your screen, in order to see the details.

Poor condition the front and back cover are falling off

I bought a used book but it was in excellent condition. The book looked brand new! No pencil marks or any signs of use.The book looked brand new!

I think this book is a Really detailed book with a lot of information and pictures. GREAT for pre-vet students!!!!

As a woman, I am constantly changing purses. Sometimes I have a purse that I could carry the world in, and other times I choose to have a purse that only contains the essentials. This planner makes it easy for me to transfer from purse to purse. This is a pretty big deal to me because I used to have bigger decorative planners for nursing school and there were quite a few time that I didn't have my planner on me because it wouldn't fit in the purse I was using at the time. And although I am relatively young I don't like to use my phone as my planner so having this planner, which is basically the size of an iPhone XS Max, makes it easy to carry around and keep with me. I also like that this planner is five years long so I don't have to buy a new one every year. There are a few note pages at the very end of the planner and at the beginning of each year there is a "year at a glance" page and a "holiday & notes" page as shown in one of my pictures. The planner is very cute and showed up as pictured by the seller. It seems to be made very well and it doesn't seem that the pages will fall out. 10/10 would recommend

When my family and I got orders to Alaska (military) and were told we could only ship one vehicle, the drive from Texas to Alaska stared down at us like a grizz on a salmon run -- hungering, licking its chops, and breathing fire... (Oh, wait... that's dragons...)Needless to say, driving 4000 miles across the Great White North was a daunting undertaking... add 7 kids and a dog and it's enough to send you to the nuthouse before you even start.Enter "The Milepost." Full of landmarks, hotel recommendations, restaurant guides, and even historical info, this little handbook made our 10-day nightmare into a peaceful, family-bonding vacation... On several occasions, we detoured off the main highways to explore the "alternate" route (at the behest of the book) and were NEVER disappointed. Spent the night in Jasper National Park. Stopped to see the Giant Beaver in Alberta. Swam for two days in White Horse's Canda Games Centre. Always knew where we were going, when we'd be there, and where we were going to stay and eat, all thanks to "The Milepost."Would NOT recommend driving to Alaska from the Lower 48 without it!

We bought the Milepost before our trip to Alaska and it was a wonderful guide all along the way. But make sure you get a current edition, because things up there change quite frequently! New business owners don't always know how difficult a life it can be in the dead of winter and can't survive the lack of tourists. But this book gives a mile-by-mile description of what's in the surrounding area. We would have missed many things along the way: like the license plate forest, the rock art along the highway, the micro-brewery, the First Nation Museum, the local fishing hole, the attempts at preventing road heaving, the wildlife overpass. If you have any doubts about visiting this awesome state, my advice is to just do it(but not in the winter!)! You'll never regret the scenery, wildlife, or people!

I have never seen anything as complete as this "bible" of everyting Alaskan. It is a travel guide, road condition guide, fisherman's guide and anyting else you ever wanted to know about the state and surronding provinces. I used it two years ago on my first trip to Alaska, and would have missed many things without it. They do revise it every year; I checked and found some things different from my 2007 version to the 2009 one. It is laid out by highway with mileage to and from major points. In addition, side roads are integrated within the major highway listings with their own mileage markers.Whether you are flying, driving, or going by ferry, it is a "gotta have".

The less in this book are very well organized, they flow with the learning process. The font is a little tiny so reading the Lao characters tend to tire my eyes. However I do not have 20/20 vision either.

Not helpful. Print too small

I've been using this book on and off for 20 years and have found it very useful indeed. I always go back to it to brush up. It's simple (if a little crude in terms of its presentation) but it's systematic, breaks down the sentence structure into meaningful blocks of text and uses both lao script, phonetics (including numbers for the correct tone), as well as the English translation. There are a few mistakes here and there but not serious. It should be remembered that Lao is not spoken by a whole lot of people (between 5-15 million?) and there aren't many books that cover this language. This is the best introductory book that I've seen.

There are two books 'called Lao for beginngers' and 2 books called 'Let's learn Lao'. I have not seen the Tuttle publications book. The one by Buasawan Simmala and Benjawan Poomsan Becker (Baipoon publishing 2003) has lot of audio. It has many problems, but the words in Lao are spelled correctly.Teach yourself methods have recently become very flimsy because few of the buyers actually get through them, so an author can sell a lot of substandard books. But for those who want to learn this is rather cruel punishment. It would be useful if the authors tried to learn a language from a book like what they have produced.

The books offers an easy to understand method of learning to speak Lao. After a quick study of the book I was able to communicate with a native Lao speaker and be understood. However the book doesn't really focus on the language a modern person might want if traveling in Laos.

As the only teach yourself Lao book I have been able to trace it was a great disappointment. It's very unclear. In the end I resorted to learning Thai and using a Lao dictionary.

This book is easy to use. It has all of the basics phrases and works that you could use in the country. Well worth the price.

I did not like this book. Lao is a VERY simple language, but this book uses a very complex approach.
