Amazon's got to remove a few irrelevant reviews-- several reviews about this fine book were instead about shipping, condition, etc. which should reflect on the seller, NOT the author or content! In the first edition, one review downgraded the book for highlighting, while another gave 5 stars because a class was cancelled! Is this the twilight zone?Descriptive Geometry is a mainstay of numerous sciences, from architecture to physics and of course 3D gaming. The pedagogy in this book is some of the best in ANY text-- with an outstanding pace of explanation, illustration and math. On top of that, the book INCLUDES the complete student "workbook" guide, instead of making it a separate purchase, which as you know sometimes can't be found after a few years.Even at the "old" price (caution, there also is a revised edition), the book is one of only a few that cover the entire field with nearly all applications as examples. However, MANY copies of both editions are available now at much lower prices, ours was under $10 and Prime eligible!There is one thing about this text that you won't find in ANY other text, and I've reviewed hundreds, from Riemann to projective geometry and everything in between. That is the fact that this author, unexpectedly and brilliantly, creates a THEME of point of view, then carries it forward into ALL the applications of DG! This allows the student to see in an unprecedented clear way how techniques are similar and different as you change coordinate systems, problem definitions and solution methods. This shows she has a mind already oriented to the much more current "camera perspectives" than the dusty history of this field.For a decade or so, DG was relegated to math history, art and architecture, but with the advent of gaming, 3D and many new modeling applications from physics to astronomy, projecting between 2D and 3D and vice versa has become one of the most important fields of math today. The techniques in this book are the foundation of AutoCad, their Maya program, splines and perspectives, and both physics and displays in game programming. 3D movies and TV use these techniques, as does research in new LED display technologies.Finally, technical visualization is in its infancy, for example teaching math via animation. when I purchased this book I was aware that their might be some highlighted marks on it and some writen text, but the description said nothing about missing pages, half of the pages of the book were missing and I was very disappointed. I would like a refuned of this purchase but I did not knoe where I could get it back from.

The author pits Lotus in the late 1950s against Cooper, arguing that Chapman was stuck on the superiority of the front-engine race car, while Cooper figured out that a mid-engine configuration could compete against heavier and more powerful cars. As Chapman is credited with inventing lightness and simplicity, this is a gauntlet at the feet of the faithful, of which I am one.I read with interest the early chapters about the first Lotus single seaters, the svelte, front-engined 12 and 16, failures against the Coopers -- and most everything else, too -- and Chapman's turn to that odd creation, the boxy, even homely, and the mostly unremarkable mid-engined 18, which was an immediate success, albeit undermined by reliability problems. (Let us give special thanks to Lotus' sequential gearbox, the "queer box", which gets discussed in every Lotus history, usually with derision, but was way ahead of its time -- someone should write a history of that!)The author argues that Lotus' 18 succeeded by applying careful engineering analysis to its suspension design and geometry, while Coopers relied on ham-fisted arrangements. This is a very interesting point and I wanted to understand more about the differences between the cars, but there was little direct comparison or detail.The second half of the book describes races and results, private entrants, changes to the 18, an interesting chapter on the 19 sports-racing car, and remaining examples of the 18.My interest in Coopers whetted, I have started Doug Nye's tome on the mark. It is interesting to see the late-'40s single-seat, 500-cc, mid-engined Formula Three Coopers, followed by front-engined cars, and then the 1957 return to the mid-engine layout.

Great gift for Lotus fans. Price was reasonable and delivery was faster than expected.

Excellent book with lots of info on the 18, Climax engines, etc. Very technical and informative. Great photos, drawings, etc. Having drive an 18 Formula JR, it's obviously of great interest to me.

Arrived quickly. These books always come in handy. Great item to add to my collection. Price was awesome.

Some really prefer the Chilton's manuals over the Haynes, but not me. It has all the information in it, but in what I find to be a less user friendly format.

Nothing can be a Hanyes Manual, but this one does have some information that is easier to understand. Using the two together makes things perfect.

Got this book for my husband and it was exactly what he needed. The book was in good shape also.

I've used this book for nearly three years now, and keep wondering why I go back to it. (Actually, it's because it's the only Tempo/Topaz book I own.) I have found several major errors in the illustrations, usually due to showing a 2.0 engine setup as a 2.3 or vice versa. Some instructions, like how to change a water pump, are just plain wrong. Electrical schematics, particularly of the instrument cluster are sketchy to the point of being useless when troubleshooting anything other than a hard failure. I suspect that much of the text in this book was a quickie cut-and-paste job of info that pertained to these same components as installed in other Ford products. It really doesn't do justice to the model-specific problems of navigating the limited space of the engine compartment or tracing an intermittent electrical circuit. Proofreading was spotty at best. It's better than doing a repair job blind, but not by much.

We were trying to replace the heater core, the instructions were foggy to say the least. Further repairs or maintenance just as foggy, its a good book if you have a lot of experience with repairing the vehicle and don't need a how to. Amazingly the "Ford Tempo Mercury Topaz 1984-94" book by Mark Christman, which is by the same company, was a lot better for repairs and maintenance. But neither book helped with replacing the heater core, we eventually used other resources for more ideas on how to actually get to the heater core to get it out.

Chilton's Ford Tempo and Mercury Topaz Repair Manual 1984-94 is not for the average car owner. It is probably not even for the average mechanic. It is written in difficult language and at times seems to display unnecessarily complicated methods of performing simple tasks. From beginning to index it offers low quality information and instruction. There are too many diagrams and not enough photos. The photos available are poor. Overall this book was not very useful to me. I have used the Haynes manual for the same car and found it much more useful.
