I find a lot of true crime to be of the train wreck variety. I want to look away but simply can't. This is another great collection of true crime story atrocities by RJ Parker that details quite a few Cold Blooded Killers.I found the story of Edmund Kemper to be particularly reprehensible and am always interested in learning more background information about the Columbine incident.The fact that the book was divided into sections based on types of crimes was also helpful. I felt that this was well-organized and found information here that I haven't seen elsewhere.
As an avid reader of true crime and mostly read books by author RJ, I found the stories of different disturbing cases I know about and glad I found some answers here. The book gave me clearance and information on why these horrific crimes are committed by kids killing parents and parents killing their children. A page turner, the only thing I have to say negative about is the book was short. Hopefully the author will do another book with more cases.
Perfect tittle for this book!! The stories in this book are about some very violent, chilling, horrifying & disturbed people! There are 21 stories, each featuring a different killer or killers. Author RJ Parker gives background on the killer(s). Some were raised in good & loving families, making it harder to understand just went wrong to make someone commit Cold Blooded murder. Others were often abused emotionally, physically & sexually by the very people that should have loved & protected them. One, knew there was something wrong that was causing him to have horrible thoughts. So much so that he asked in his suicide note that they autopsy his brain in hopes that someone understands. (It was discovered during the autopsy that Charles Joseph Whitman, aka The Clock Tower Sniper did have a brain tumor)! Read about kids that killed their parents, a mass hostage crisis, school shootings, massacres & more! If you like true crime you will probably find this book fascinating!!
I already wrote a review for this book but it's not here.This was one of the first books I read by RJ Parker and I've been reading every book of his since then.Very good author if you like true crime as I do.I noticed some negatively in some reviews and noted they were from a few reviewers known to attack this author and others.Jealousy perhaps? It's malicious and underhanded no doubt.Anyhow,this book is one I recommended to my family and friends.
The author broke up the book into three categories which I loved and the stories chosen we're great. But the writing overall I felt lacked depth in cases. I am not sure if it was done in the effort to reduce the size of the book, but I felt there were areas that were left open ended outside of the count of the victim and their upbringing. As for the structure of the retelling it was could have been better. There were a couple of stories that jumped back and forth between events, confusing names of assailants, are just a few things that stood out to me. Overall not a bad read, I enjoyed the selection of subjects chosen and their categorization.
I have always been a fan of true crime and this book gives you a variety. Everything from children who kill their parents to mass murderers. RJ Parker seems to have a knack in doing the proper research to bring these cases to light with honesty and putting it out there for the reader to be better educated about how and why these people do these despicable acts. Even touching on their cognitive functioning is helpful in getting to the root of the issue. Other readers of this genre may find this to be a good book as well
Book was very interesting and had me reading non-stop. Being a true crime fan, a few of these stories I are already knew and read about, but there were plenty I had never heard of too.
I never knew there were so many massacres in this world. This book of 21 unbelievable massacres and killings is awesome. Another great book by RJ Parker. Most of the cases I have never heard of before but this book will make you want to learn about them. Crazy crazy people in this world. Great details and overviews of each case. I recommend this book to anyone who is a TC addict.
This book is a good primer for someone just getting interested in the subject matter. It doesn't go into a lot of detail, but rather gives the overviews of the cases as something of an introduction. I think it would make a good starting point for future research.
