About one month ago I ordered four math books published by Argo Brothers Publishing – Math 3rd Grade Common Core Workbook (Part 1 and Part 2), and Math 5th Grade Common Core Workbook (Part 1 and Part 2). Being a Math Tutor I always check different additional sources to help my students to be successful on the tests, especially based on Common Core. Usually I search Internet looking for Test Preparation information, and then compiling worksheets for different topics. It is hard work, because there is a lot of outdated information with different point of view on the same subject. I found almost everything I need in those books! Part 1 has a hundreds multiple choice questions which cover different topics, and Part 2 requires writing answers, which is much harder, and makes a student to analyze, and formulate his answer in proper way. Guessing doesn’t work! All the books are well structured based by days and weeks, which can help with the planning of studying. I started to utilize those books in my tutoring process, and I’m very happy with the result – it saves my time and effort, and I have big source of worksheets wit the answer keys in one place! I would recommend those books to parents of my students as a perfect guide to be successful on Common Core exams. I’d like to order the book Math 7th Grade Common Core Workbook (Part 1 and Part 2) in near future.

I was browsing for extra practice for my 5th grader. I was looking for something different from homework from school,something challenging, something like not new separate curriculum and not too expensive.Just before i so similar but old book in our public library and viola! I found this one! The book has 2 parts. Also you can use video explanation, if you need.Each page of the book has tasks for the day and tips and 5th day of the week has an assessment. Also there is a huge assessment at the end of the book. There are answers at the end as well(relief for doubtful and busy parents).The book 1 has an multiple choice and part 2 has free response. You could choose either one or combine both parts for better result.It is good for homeschooling, with online-video explanation it covers everything. It is not easy, on some questions you have to think twice, it is good for brain storm.

One of my favorite publishers for math workbooks for students. I have many of their books and have been consistently pleased with the quality and number of resources they provide. The workbooks include more than enough practice problems for your child to work through during the school year and the book comes along with their online website access. To my knowledge, all of their workbooks come with video explanations on their website. Some instructor reviews question by question making this an essential workbook to have for all parents and teachers. As a parent who has used their books for my kids and continue to do so, I highly recommend this brand.

This book helped my son refresh 5th grade math over the summer. We practiced daily for a month and he ended up testing into advanced math when school started. There isn’t much in the way of explanations (the videos are pretty unprofessional in my opinion, but they helped once or twice). However, if your child has a decent grasp on the concepts already, but could use some practice or refreshing, then this is an excellent choice. I will be buying them for both my sons this year as a supplement.

We purchased these workbooks a few weeks ago for the summer months. At first it was a pain figuring out the online login and videos but once we asked for help from Argo it was great! The videos are a very helpful tool explaining to us adults and our child how to do the math problems specifically. The Common Core curriculum is different than when we grew up; so having this as a resource to understand a problem is huge.

We have seen much better results with Argo Brothers work book than the free work sheets we find in internet. It has several multi-step word problems, which is more important than simply solving the math equations. Kids also enjoy doing it; as it is not strenuous. Very good supplemental work book with the regular school teaching.

Great preparation for 6th grade. Thinking through the problems challenges students in their math vocabulary and ability to apply basic concepts to given scenarios. Each week covers new topics and includes concepts from previous weeks to improve memory through repetition.

Great book. I had for 3 grade and now this one. My boys love it. All material related to their subject in school and give them opportunities be ahead of the class. Thank you

A classic of the sail cruising genre. I purchased this Kindle edition to supplement the hard cover copy I own which lacks the original edition's photographs. The Kindle reproductions of the photos are not very high quality, so four out of five stars seems fit.Ransome's tone is droll and won't be to everyone's taste so read a few pages of the Kindle preview and you should be able to tell if it suits.

I have never been so frustrated by an Amazon purchase. This edition is essentially a photocopy of an earlier edition, but with truncated margins on every page -- consistently cutting off or cutting out text. It is therefore unreadable. Should not be for sale.

Authentic review of a man's passion: a walkabout with his sailboat Racundra. Loaded with lots of interesting facts about sailing technic, yachts and the Baltic Sea and Esthonia: a region totally unkwown for me.

Interesting descriptions of Baltic countries and their inhabitants in the 1920's. Lots to interest sailors also, however, the description of voyages is heavy on place names and requires constant reference to two poorly sized and printed maps. Perhaps Ransome relied to heavily on his logs.

I have a Penguin edition of 1956 without all the additional material of this new edition. But the basic story is the same.This is a charming narrative of a cruise in a well-built little sailboat, in waters of the Baltic countries, to places the author clearly knows and loves.Arthur Ransome later wrote a series of children's books focused on sailing. He would certainly have agreed with Kenneth Grahame's "Ratty" that ""There is nothing -- absolutely nothing -- half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats." One might qualify that, noting that in Ransome's books, the sailing is rather more directed and purposeful - but he always communicates the sheer joy of being on the water in a craft that responds to the elements, at your direction (He was not a fan of engines of any kind - a sometimes necessary evil. Sailing was the thing.)"Racundra's First Cruise" was published in 1923. He had commissioned the building of Racundra, a thirty-foot ketch built for seaworthiness and comfort inside. With the "Ancient Mariner" - an old veteran of the days of sail in clipper ships - and "Cook" - probably the companion who was to become his second wife, but only identified by her unending task - he takes us through many sometimes tricky passages along the Baltic coast, visiting old cobblestoned towns and remote peasant villages.It is delightful to sink back into a time when the sea was still full of trading vessels under sail, though of course large and small steamers also abounded. Mentions of "during the war" refer of course to the Great War. Relics of older conflicts abound - Russian, Swedish, Latvian, Finnish, Estonian - and Ransome provides many interesting footnotes to their stories.My favorite encounter is that with the enigmatic man who lives alone, building a ship, in the forest. The ship is at first seen as "a golden hull in the shadows among those tall trees" then we see that "the upper planking was new, certainly, ruddy gold where the sun caught it, but lower down her hull was weathered"...."The keel, laid on great stones, was joined to them by moss. There was lichen upon it, and on the foot of the stern-post was a large, bright cluster of scarlet toadstools."Enjoy.

I wonder why Hollywood has not yet discovered this book: it has all the ingredients for a box-office hit - sailing in the Baltics, scenic sea- and landscapes, a romantic love affair of a British writer and the private secretary of Leon Trotsky. And the background - the Russian revolution, Estonia's struggle for independence. Rare photos illustrate the book. A must for the romantic sailor!

The story of RACUNDRA is worth reading especially for those attempting to sail or those who have sailed through the Moon Passage in Estonia. The historic descriptions of what is now Saarema, Virtsu, etc. makes wonderful reading!

Great little book - takes you back to a different, simpler, world. You don't have to be a sailor to enjoy this.

The preview is spot on. I bought this book because I thought I would read it and I do. It's interesting because the element's description is 1-2 pages. It's short enough where you don't feel like you're reading a dull textbook. It's more similar to snippets from from a magazine summary. The colors pop on the pictures and cover. It's a likable and pretty book in person. I bought the hard copy because I saw this book at a store and I knew that I would love having this to flip through the pretty pictures or re-read a page here and there.

My 7 yo son is obsessed with the periodic table. He's memorized it in large part because of this book. While this is clearly meant for an adult audience, I am able to translate the text easily for my son. The pictures are wonderful. It is a great gift for any science lover or enthusiast hoping to learn more about the periodic table.

Love this book! Brought it to work and my fellow chemist immediately went on and ordered one. Big hit. Pictures are cool along with the awesome descriptions and/or history.

section on cars is pretty spot on in terms of selecting the ne plus ultra. boat selections are also pretty decent, though they missed the aquariva.however, the wrist watches in this book are craptastic. A plastic AP royal oak offshore? I guess the target market for this book is lebron james.patek phillippe, a lange % sohne, philippe dufour, not in this book...but should be.

Boats (with displacements to millions of kg) and planes also fit into the "Mobility" chapter, but seem to appeal to narrower audiences.The "Home" section revels in music of course, with an Audi grand piano and Gramophone speakers. An espresso machine that evokes chrome-plated steampunk falls into the category (but don't let the Pope know I said so), and knives. What could be more manly than knives? Again, the editors emphasize their style without mentioning the remarkable metallurgy resembling Damascus steel. Of course, the listing includes million-dollar watches, helicopter skiing, space flight, and other examples of advanced research and development in conspicuous consumption.I was interested to see that both of this book's editors are women - clearly not the intended audience of these luxury toys. I couldn't help but wonder why it would take women to document men's indulgences. Were they fascinated and baffled by the phenomenon to the point that they had to research it? Or, but being outsiders in the manhood issue, did they bring an outsider's objectivity to the study? My wife suggested that, since men with budgets like these would dangle their toys as bait in the mating game, it's only natural for the targeted women to develop a fine eye for appraisal. Whatever the reason, the book combines bold style with fine execution, as if inspired by the toys it documents.-- wiredweird
